Work Permit Application Process Work Permit for Foreign Artists

Artist Has Not Yet Traveled to Thailand (WP. 32)

  1. Review event details and artist qualifications

    Lawyer V-Work team will first verify the type of work to be performed in Thailand, duration, location, who the employer is, and which submission approach should be used.

  2. Review artist's and organizer's documents

    Verify accuracy of passport, photos, employment contract, certification letter, company documents, and supporting event documents.

  3. Submit WP. 32 to the Department of Employment

    The employer or organizer submits on behalf of the artist still abroad. Upon receiving the approval notification letter within 7 days, this document will be sent to the artist to apply for a visa.

  4. Apply for e-Visa Non-Immigrant B from abroad

    The artist applies for e-Visa through the Thailand e-Visa system using documents from WP. 32 as supporting documents. Processing time is approximately 5–10 business days

  1. Artist travels to Thailand

    Present documents to immigration officers as required.

  2. Collect work permit after arriving in Thailand

    Must submit to collect the work permit within 30 days from the date of entry into Thailand, before commencing work or performing.

  3. Deliver documents and advise on precautions before the event

    The team will inform of important details such as authorized period, job position, workplace, and restrictions to comply with.

Artist Has Already Traveled to Thailand (WP. 25)


For cases where the artist holds a Non-Immigrant B Visa and has already entered Thailand, may apply for a work permit themselves under Section 59 using form WP. 25 at the Department of Employment or local employment office. This must be done before commencing work.

Short-Term Work, International Music Festivals, or Concerts


For foreign artists coming to work in mega events, international music festivals, or concerts, the work may qualify as necessary and urgent work or specific-purpose work, which is granted a work period exemption of not more than 15 days, with the possibility of extending for another not more than 15 days, subject to conditions set by the Department of Employment. Verify whether the event qualifies under this category before proceeding.

Additional Details of Work Permit Services for Foreign Artists

ศิลปิน นักร้อง นักดนตรี DJ Performer และทีมงานต่างชาติที่ถือวีซ่า Non-Immigrant B สามารถขอใบอนุญาตทำงานได้ 2 กรณี คือ

  1. For cases where the artist has not yet traveled to Thailand, the employer or organizer submits an application for a work permit on behalf of the artist using form "WP. 32" (Section 60 paragraph 2) at the employment office. Upon receiving the approval notification, the document is sent to the artist to apply for e-Visa Non-Immigrant B at the Thai embassy or consulate in their country. The artist then travels to Thailand and collects the work permit upon arrival.
  2. For cases where the artist holds a Non-Immigrant B Visa and has already entered Thailand, the artist may apply for a work permit themselves using form "WP. 25" (Section 59) directly. This must be completed before commencing work.

  • Employment certification letter

Applications can be submitted entirely online at the Thailand Electronic Visa website, without needing to visit the embassy in person. The main steps are as follows:

  1. Create a user account and verify identity via email
  2. Log in and select "Apply for a new visa" Fill in personal and travel information in English
  3. Upload digital documents such as passport page, photo, and documents according to visa type, in JPG, PNG or PDF
  4. Pay the fee online via credit or debit card
  5. Await results in approximately 5–10 business days. Once approved, the e-Visa document will be sent to the registered email address.

For mega events, international music festivals, or concerts that qualify as necessary and urgent work, the authorized work period is not more than 15 days, with the possibility of extending for not more than another 15 days

Remark: it can not to be no more renewal.

  1. Processing should begin at least 2–3 months before the performance date, as each step requires time, as follows:

    • Processing of WP. 32 within 7 business days after all documents are complete
    • Processing of e-Visa Non-Immigrant B approximately 5–10 business days, depending on the embassy and the applicant's nationality

Issued for the required period, with a maximum of 2 years per issuance, and may be renewed as necessary.

Remark: An expired permit cannot be renewed — a new application must be submitted.

The visa must first be renewed at the Immigration Bureau before a work permit renewal can be applied for. This should be done before the expiry date, as an expired permit cannot be renewed and a completely new application must be submitted.

Work Permit A Work Permit is tied to the specific employer named. If the organizer changes, the new employer must submit WP. 32 and apply for a new work permit with the new organizer before commencing work.

If performance at a venue other than what is stated in the original permit is required, authorization must be applied for before commencing work at the new location.

Once the artist has entered Thailand and received the work permit, the employer or organizer must notify the employment and commencement of work of the foreign national within 15 days from the date the work permit is received.

A replacement must be applied for within 15 days from the date of discovering the loss or damage, by submitting an application at the Department of Employment or local employment office.

When employment ends or the person is preparing to leave the country, the employer is obligated to notify the cancellation in the system as required by law. Neglecting this step may affect future Work Permit Work Permit applications.

(1) Application fee: 100 Baht

(2) Permit:

  • Not exceeding 3 months 750 Baht
  • Exceeding 3 months but not exceeding 6 months 1,500 Baht
  • Exceeding 6 months but not exceeding 1 year: 3,000 Baht

(3) Renewal or Extension:

  • Not exceeding 3 months 750 Baht
  • Exceeding 3 months but not exceeding 6 months 1,500 Baht
  • Exceeding 6 months but not exceeding 1 year: 3,000 Baht

(4) Replacement permit: 500 Baht 

(5) Change or add type of work: 1,000 Baht 

(6) Change or add employer: 3,000 Baht 

(7) Change or add workplace: 1,000 Baht

(8) Change or add conditions of permit: 150 Baht

The fees above are official government fees and do not include service charges. Please verify current rates with the Department of Employment before proceeding.

Work Permit A Work Permit is tied to the position, type of work, employer, workplace, and period specified in the permit. The artist must work only as stated. If performing at another venue or taking on work outside what is specified, prior authorization must be obtained each time.

Applications must be submitted in the area where the applicant's workplace is located, as follows:

What is a Non-B (Non-Immigrant Visa B)

Non – Immigrant Visa “B” or Non-B visa is a type B temporary stay visa issued to those who wish to travel to Thailand for work, business contact, attending meetings in Thailand. There are both single-entry Non-B visas with a validity of 3 months from the date of visa application and can stay in Thailand for no more than 90 days, and multiple-entry Non-B visas with a validity of 1 year from the date of visa application and can stay in Thailand for no more than 90 days per time, which will be issued only for business contact cases.

What is a Non-ED (Non-Immigrant Visa ED)?

Non-Immigrant “ED” or Non-ED visa is an ED type temporary stay visa issued to those who wish to travel to Thailand for full-time study in state and private educational institutions, internships in government agencies, state enterprises, and international organizations, internships as part of an educational curriculum, and study in other educational curriculums. This Non-ED visa is a single-entry visa with a validity of 3 months from the date of visa application and can stay in Thailand for no more than 90 days.

What is a Non-O (Non-Immigrant Visa O)?

Non-Immigrant “O” or Non-O visa is an O type temporary stay visa issued to those who wish to travel to Thailand for various purposes, such as family members of Thai nationals, dependents of foreigners working or studying in Thailand, volunteers for foundations or charitable organizations, end-of-life (retirement). This Non-O visa is a single-entry visa with a validity of 3 months from the date of visa application and can stay in Thailand for no more than 90 days.

Notification of Stay in the Kingdom of Thailand for Foreigners Staying Over 90 Days

Foreign nationals who are granted temporary permission to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand or who hold a temporary (Non-Immigrant) visa include those with:

  • Business Visa (Non-B)
  • Work Visa (Non-B)
  • Retirement Visa (Non-O)
  • Marriage Visa (Non-O)
  • Dependent Visa (Non-O)
  • Volunteer Visa (Non-O)

If they stay in the Kingdom for more than 90 days, they are required to report their residence to the immigration office every 90 days. If the location has an immigration office, they can report to the officials there. Foreigners who fail to report their stay or report late and have stayed over 90 days are required to report in person and pay a fine of 2,000 Baht.

If they are apprehended for any reason and have not reported, they are subject to a fine of 5,000 Baht as per Section 37(5) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979).
